Bio
Madison Armstrong is the Independent Oversight Program manager at ORNL. She joined ORNL in 2021 as a Senior Internal Auditor and provided independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to add value and improve the organization’s operations and Â鶹ӰÒô controls. While leading audit and assessment engagements, Madison strives to provide impactful, compliance and risk-based insight to management across numerous functional and operational areas of ORNL. Prior to joining ORNL, Madison worked for six years as an accountant and Internal Auditor for a transportation company in Atlanta, GA. There she gained a strong foundation in auditing principles and developed a deep understanding of risk management concepts and assessing regulatory compliance.
Madison holds an M.S and B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. She is also a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Fraud Examiner, and Certified in Risk Management Assurance. Native to Knoxville, TN, Madison is also the fourth generation of her family to work on the Oak Ridge Reservation.
Madison enjoys reading and traveling and in 2023 she completed her goal of visiting all 50 states, concluding her adventures with a cruise around Hawaii.
