Candace Pendergrass

Administrative Assistant

Candace Pendergrass is an accomplished Administrative Assistant with a robust career spanning multiple departments at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). She began her tenure at ORNL in November 2021 within the Office of Administrative Services (OAS), where she quickly established herself as a diligent and resourceful team member. Candace started working in Biological and Environmental Systems Science Directorate (BESSD) for Bob Cottingham in Computational and Predictive Biology doing Grants, Proposals, administrative duties such as travel, calendar maintain, and interview setup.  Then, she moved to work for Mitchel Doktycz, Jerry Parks, and Jeremy Smith to complete Proposals, orders, travel, and interviews for Molecule Biophysics group.  In addition, she was demonstrating her organizational skills in the Remote Sensing & Environmental Information Group in BESSD for Giri Prakash and Bruce Wilson in using her organizational skills in setting up interviews, and ordering supplies.  Next, Candace moved to work for Mike Paulus, Dan Miller, and Jeffery Cornett in Partnerships Directorate in Technology Transfer Group demonstrating her great organizational skills in the Innovation Luncheon, visits, ordering supplies, and updating the calendar. In December 2022 Candace achieved the administrative assistant role supporting Economic Development Partnerships to work for Jeffrey Cornett and Jesse Smith to complete travel, tours, meetings, and events. As well as updating the RevV program spreadsheet with most current project balances and transferring to PowerPoint presentation for ORNL, DOE, and UT. Candace also serves as a administrative assistant to the senior administrative assistant for the Partnerships Directorate office and Technology Transfer. Throughout all these positions, Candace uses her great organizational skills and attention to detail are instrumental in maintaining efficient operations and supporting the department's initiatives in the Partnerships Directorate.

Candace is planning to graduate in December 2021 with her Associate of Science in Business Administration degree. She then plans to further her degree and go back for her Bachelor's degree in business administration.
